Truck Brake, Transmission and Cooling Repair
The systems that stop your truck, move it and keep it from overheating. We repair them on medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks in our Kearny Mesa shop.
Brake repair
We work on both air brakes on heavy trucks and hydraulic brakes on medium-duty trucks, including drums, shoes, rotors, pads, slack adjusters, brake chambers, air dryers, compressors and brake lines.
Signs your brakes need attention:
- The truck pulls to one side or takes longer to stop
- Grinding, squealing or a soft brake pedal
- A hissing air leak or air pressure that builds slowly
- A low-air or brake warning light
If the low-air warning comes on while you are driving, pull over safely and call us. Do not keep driving on low air.
Transmission and clutch repair
We diagnose and repair manual and automatic transmissions and clutches on commercial trucks. Watch for slipping, hard or delayed shifts, grinding gears, fluid leaks under the truck and transmission warning lights. Catching these early usually costs far less than a failed transmission.
Cooling system repair
Commercial engines run hot, and San Diego heat and stop-and-go delivery routes add to the load. We repair radiators, hoses, water pumps, thermostats, fan clutches and coolant leaks.
Signs of a cooling problem: the temperature gauge climbing, coolant you keep having to top up, steam from the engine bay or a sweet smell. An overheated engine can be badly damaged, so do not keep driving if the gauge is in the red.
Found during an inspection?
Brake and leak problems are some of the most common findings on BIT and DOT inspections. We can fix them right away, so the truck passes and goes back to work.
